Route Optimization Methodology
To ensure that there is quick communication and data transfer, the Content Delivery Network providers also make use of various root-optimization algorithms, which check the various available routes between the original server that hosts the content and the user, who has requested for the content.
Here, the CDNs use their routers to track performance and reliability of the all the links, i.e. the connection between the origin server and the CDN, the data flow in the CDN cloud and the last mile of transfer between the CDN edge servers and the user.
Various tracking methods are used and with periodic checks, the system tries to provide the user with the optimal route, thus improving the speed of content delivery.
